Hiking to Aquiares Church and waterfall

Aquiares is a small well preserved ‘coffee plantation’ town, between the Guayabo Lodge and the town of Turrialba.
started out about 100 years ago as the main operations and living area of the Aquiares Coffee Hacienda. Nowadays
many of the inhabitants of Aquiares own their houses, but still work on the Hacienda that surrounds the town. You
will still see the ‘Beneficio’ (coffee processing plant) near the headquarters of the hacienda and the church right
in the town center. The Aquiares church is an official national heritage site. It is a typical coffee-plantation
church of Costa Rica, built in 1925. The stained glass windows were imported from Germany and the altar was brought
